Friday 9th January ORGAN IN ROCK In the mid 60s and 70s bands such as Deep Purple, Procol Harum, The Small Faces, The Doors, Steppin Wolf and many more realised Rock Music wasnt all about guitars and drums. All of a sudden every band were trying to get their hands on the new sound that was The Hammond Organ. It soon became apparent with the likes of the roaring Jon Lord, the brilliant Stevie Winwood and others that it was time for the organ to meet its true destiny. Not in church but on stage. One minute screaming and distorted (Space Truckin) and the other soothing and swirling (Whiter Shade of Pale), often taking charge or laying itself in the mix like some warm phat glue. Lachlan Doley on Hammond Organ (The Hands, Powderfinger) has put together a mighty band including Dario Bortolin on Bass, Tim Hartwig on Guitar, Adam Church on Drums. With Vocalists Spencer Jones and Johnny Cass out front, you wont want to miss this celebration of the Mighty Organ and its history in ROCK!
