Aleyce Simmonds

Kaylee Bell (2013 Toyota StarMaker Winner)

At just 26 she is already a ten-year veteran of the industry. Throughout her career so far, Aleyce has drawn comparisons with artists as diverse as Linda Ronstadt, Shania Twain and, most commonly, Emmy-Lou Harris. Zombie Cats

Sons Of Alamo + Thirty Seventy

Zombie Cats is a 5 piece Indie-pop band whose unique musical style draws on a range of influences; from Ray Charles, Otis Redding and the songs of the swinging 60s...to Lauryn Hill, Gotye and Bat for Lashes.

Having recently returned from Melbourne where they recorded their EP “Bad Blood” with the Aria nominated producer Steven Schram (The Cat Empire, San Sisco, Little Red) the band consists of 2 brothers, 2 lovers, and a chanteuse.

Performing tracks from their recent release, expect a night of electronic infused pop, soul soaked melodies, dark narratives, catchy riffs, fat groove, muddy blues, tenacious vocals, and at times...a free, improvisatory/experimental approach to the music.

Sons Of Alamo are an indie rock-pop band from the beaches of the Central Coast. Since 2009, the band has released 2 EP's and 1 Album, toured the East Coast, played festivals such as BIG DAY OUT, Easterfest and The Reunion Festival. Sons play music because they love it and hope to keep it that way forever...forever ever? Forever ever? Yes forever.

Hailing from Melbourne’s northern suburbs, "Thirty Seventy" have been putting a fresh spin on live hip-hop and beat music since early 2013. Coming from backgrounds in jazz and improvisation, the band cross-pollinates genres, weaving melodies through a shifting textural and rhythmic soundscape. The core of the group is a four piece rhythm brotherhood, joined by the original soul mumma: Allyshah Joy Pinches. The result is a head nodding cosmic groove, delivered with a water tight group cohesion.

The Nice Folk “Touched” Album tour

The Maladies + Brian Henry Hooper (Beasts of Bourbon, Kim Salmon & The Surrealists, Rowland S. Howard)

It's been a while between drinks since The Nice Folk trod the boards of the Vanguard with their filthy swagger of songs in the key of death, drugs & Satan. But now they’re back to send their second full-length album "Touched" into orbit.

2014 was a year-long celebration for The Nice Folk’s 10th Anniversary as a band and along the way they took the time to record their latest 8 track opus which has been pressed in a limited run of vinyl including a very limited "pink n' blue" splatter edition. They are available exclusively at the launch shows before they hit your local record store.

Joining them on the night is special guest Brian Henry Hooper. The man behind the deep bass throb of such acts as The Beasts of Bourbon, Kim Salmon & The Surrealists and Rowland S. Howard, bringing a trace of his own burnt offerings with a little help from his friends.

To open the night we have The Maladies, recently returned from their two and a half year exile, chomping at the bit to get loud and raucous again.

Jimmy Vargas & The Black Dahlias

Jazz noir / Crime Jazz Spoken Word Burlesque-Striptease Aerial

Formed by JIMMY VARGAS in San Francisco in 1993, the BLACK DAHLIAS, (so named after Hollywood's sainted and ill-fated Madonna of Los Angeles nineteen forties folklore, one Elizabeth Short) are dark expositors of the self-coined 'Tease, Torch, and Noir' genre.

The BLACK DAHLIAS' original soundtrack exploits the canon of a dream-world nineteen forties Americana, their illicit tunes birthed from the trellis of harlot parfum and the cracked shellac spinning out of a Hollywood pleasure house jukebox…

With seven albums to date (their new disc of neo-40s latino torch and dark swing... LUST ANGELES being their latest), the BLACK DAHLIAS continue to spread the gospel of the tease, the torch, and the noir to Hepcats, swingers, Satanists, vamps and jazz heathens alike. In August 2012, Jimmy Vargas signed with legendary Hollywood label DIONYSUS.

VARGAS’ literary expositions have finally found a home at DARK MOON PRESS with whom the crooner inked in MARCH 2013, seeing the release of his SHADOW BRIDE book series, with first novel available at Amazon on April 30th 2013.

The Wild Wild Inner West Review

Michael Carpenter & The Cuban Heels + Fanny Lumsden + Chris Murphy + Amber Rae Slade

What is “The Wild Wild Inner West Review”? There’s been a movement around the Inner West of excellent alt.country/Americana type bands for some time. These aren’t necessarily bands that will make it to Tamworth next week, though some certainly have and will. But they wear their love of this style of music proudly, ranging from the glossier commercial pop variety, all the way through to the more raucous, rustic, blue-grassy and folky as well. The aim of these nights is to bring a bunch of these bands together, for all those neglected country music fans who live in the City. It’s kind of a pre-festival, mini review, featuring 4 great acts.

O'SHEA - 'The Famine and The Feast' tour

There's power to be found in the tension between opposites - in darkness and light, good and evil, love found and love lost. Country duo O'Shea are particularly fond of the inspiration brought forth by the polarizing nature of love, especially on their latest album The Famine and the Feast.

>Mark and Jay may come from different musical backgrounds, with Mark's country rock roots providing contrast to Jay's history as a “singer’s singer" and successful songwriter, but it's those differences that make them such a powerful musical force. Like the contrasting feelings the two sing about on their upcoming record, Mark and Jay have found the beauty in their differences, making for an electric listening experience for the rest of us
