The Blues Preachers

Daniel Cross + Keiran Morris

The Blues Preachers Dead Catz Can Bounce Bounce up off your Lounges ! Stop Watching The News & Come To Celebrate Life With The Blues Preachers

The Blues Preachers will take you to another place and time, somewhere between 1920 and 1940. Their music paints a landscape of pre-war struggle and determination with sounds reminiscent of the Deep South. The Blues Preachers perform a fusion of good old blues, rags, gospel and hillbilly folk. The powerful simplicity of driving finger-style and slide-guitar combined with the sounds of tasteful harmonica and old-school vocal harmonies create a traditional and untarnished sound that will have you on the edge of your seats. Their latest release ‘Dead Catz Can Bounce’ goes one step further. It contains many award winning original songs about the big issues of today: the global financial crisis, greed, relationships, global warming, materialism, life and death and the search for truth and meaning in the great age of misinformation. Green Mohair Suits - Album Launch

After easing into life as a side-project and casually releasing three records over a leisurely seven year period, 2014 has put a rocket under Sydney’s Green Mohair Suits. With harmonies purportedly sounding like “an orgasm on a mountain top, like angels in a dirty bar, like a perfect naked woman covered in ants”, things have certainly changed since 2006 when Green Mohair Suits formed purely to rip out the jams at a Gram Parsons tribute night.

Now, Brian Campeau, Richard Cuthbert, Jason Mannell, and Ben Romalis - a quartet of expressive songwriters that take their four-part harmonising as seriously as they take their shenanigans - have sidelined the side project tag, and let Green Mohair Suits stride ahead as a frontrunner.

They will be launching their brand new album this September/October on an expansive East-Coast tour

Metak

The boys from METAK are back after a short lay off with an even bigger, bolder stage show.

A hard-rocking band based around a triple-guitar assault, METAK will be paying tribute to the guitar gods with their blistering live set at the Vanguard.
Peppered with the songs that inspired them to pick up their guitars, METAK also deliver their own balls-to-the-wall originals in much the same vein.

A tight rhythm section featuring Johnny Dolmio (Monster Gale) and Joe Olic (former Dark Order and Horsley Drive) is the perfect foundation for this triple-lead-guitar band. Magnus Soderstrom (former Cowboys from Hellsinki), Captain (former Faultline, and Fallen Silver) and Shark (former Devine Electric and Virginia Killstyxx) form a formidable trio, doing what not many bands can with their 3-dimensional guitarwork. Add to this Shark's stellar vocals and undeniable charisma, as well as spine tingling 4 way vocal harmonies, and you've got a whole lot more going on than your average 5 piece hard-rock band.

Thieves 'A Way To Ease The Pain' single launch

The Mountains + Andy Gollege + Ben Horder

In March 2014, Thieves took time off from performing live to do some writing. Trying hard to pull their focus away from heavy drinking and constant procrastination, Thieves managed to pull things together and write their debut album 'Mary'.
Heavily influenced at the time by prolific story-tellers such as Nick Cave, Neil Young, Jae Laffer, Gareth Liddiard and Tim Winton a twisted melancholic narrative about a trouble Australian family was created.

After months of writing and draining rehearsals Thieves decided it was time to find where they would track the record. Romanticising the idea of creating a organic and gritty live sound they chose the amazing Linear Studios in Sydney's Leichhardt. In June Thieves met with producer Dorny Mayes to plan the recording. With only a shoe-string budget at their disposal they chose to track live over two days. This decision gave birth to ‘Mary’, their most organic and honest efforts as a band yet.

‘Mary’ is set to be released in February 2015 with the new single ‘A Way To Ease The Pain’ to be released 1st of October with a Launch show on October 16th @ Newtown’s own The Vanguard.

Sex On Toast

Beaten Bodies + Bad Bitch Choir.

Sex on Toast hit the road again for a different kind of tour. This time it’s all about Ricky. After packing the Toff two nights in a row and playing more memorable shows in our nation’s capital and at Sydney’s legendary Vanguard, Sex on Toast have squeezed in their guts and put on their freshly tailored sea-side attire, READY to venture further up the East Coast.

Melbourne’s show at our fave hole in the wall Hugs & Kisses will feature some wild surprises from our friends at Wondercore Island. We’ll also be returning to the Vanguard in Sydney, The Heritage in Wollongong, hitting the Hoey Moey in Coff’s Harbour. We’ll trapse to the Phoenix in Canberra and will be making out long awaited Brisbane appearance at the Motor Room in West End.

To some, Ricky is a forgotten phenomena. Ricky is yesterday’s news… Ricky’s your Dad’s favourite records, a trip down to your local Chinese restaurant to pick up that coke from an LA session musician… but to us, Ricky means bitchin’ horn arrangements, phased rhodes, beautiful women perched upon the mixing desk, & a shuffles that aren’t quite shuffles, but they’re still funky, y’know?

Black Diamond

The Gunn Show, Dreamer Crimes & Bury The Veil

Think Australian Rock. Think Newcastle Rock N Roll. Think coalmines, industry and working your hands to the bone for every last cent you have – a blue-collar town where the high rollers reap the rewards. The export of coal is the black diamond that brings money and jobs to the Newcastle and that is how the name Blackdiamond was born.

A five-piece hard rock outfit from Newcastle, with a ‘work hard - play hard’ ethic. These boys are not here to mess around. “That’ll do” just won’t cut it anymore and they have set themselves the task of taking on the world and conquering. Blackdiamond’s goal is to fill venues and party with everyone in the room. Forget the week just been, forget the week to come and live for the few days of freedom the working class get.

Be sure that when you walk into a Blackdiamond show you are going to experience an event, have a few more drinks then you planned and come out on a high, a little bruised and wanting more.

Blackdiamond got together in 2012 and in this short time have ticked more boxes than most acts have even dreamt. Touring extensively across the East Coast of Australia. SA, VIC, NSW, ACT and QLD. From the major cities to the small ‘one horse towns’, Blackdiamond have left no stone unturned.

Blackdiamond’s debut Album has successfully spammed it self across the internet, with the success of their single ‘Devil Woman’, accruing record sales through iTunes and other media outlets, as-well-as consistent streams via Spotify all over the globe (Europe, UK, USA, and Asia). With one of Australian Rock’s most prestigious production teams at the helm of the desk – Mark Opitz and Colin Wynne – you can safely say these boys are well on their way to success. In 2014 Blackdiamond have gone back into the studio, again with Opitz and Wynne, to record ‘Touch of Love’ – their latest single, which, from the outset smacks you the face with vocals and kicks you in the chest with groove, riffs and hooks. This is all about rock n roll, chicks and cars baby, and it ain’t gonna stop. Their ‘Touch of Love Tour’ has been their most successful and longest tour thus far. Starting in Brisbane heading down the coast to Melbourne, across the bottom of Oz to Adelaide and back through the guts of inland NSW and QLD to finish up at ‘The Big Pineapple Festival’ in May. The ‘Touch of Love Tour’ goes for 13 weeks and is made up of close to 40 shows.

Check out the Official Blackdiamond website to find out when they are coming to you.

Hatfitz and Cara Robinson

Congratulations to Hat Fitz & Cara Robinson. They’ve been back in Australia for less than a month, but the talented husband-and-wife juggernaut have just taken out the BASEQ Memphis Blues Challenge last weekend against some very stiff competition and over 100 entrants.

This means they will be heading over to Memphis in January to participate in the 2015 International Blues Challenge, the biggest blues event in the world. It caps off what has been a brilliant couple of months for the terrific twosome, who are equally delighted to be able to announce the news of an Australian tour and release of their new album DO TELL, which was released earlier this year in the UK and Europe.

The pair received rave reviews and fabulous support on the airwaves for the new album in the Northern Hemisphere, building on the great success they had achieved with their last album WILEY WAYS.

A fierce and fabulous tour de force on stage with their gut-busting energy and brilliant live shows, the big, burly Queenslander Hat Fitz and his wee Irish wife completely charmed audiences wherever they appeared.

Having recently returned from Melbourne where they recorded their EP “Bad Blood” with the Aria nominated producer Steven Schram (The Cat Empire, San Sisco, Little Red) the band consists of 2 brothers, 2 lovers, and a chanteuse.

Performing tracks from their recent release, expect a night of electronic infused pop, soul soaked melodies, dark narratives, catchy riffs, fat groove, muddy blues, tenacious vocals, and at times...a free, improvisatory/experimental approach to the music.

Cabaret Sasquatch

After the last sold out performance, Cabaret Sasquatch returns to The Vanguard.
